IT projects often fail to come in on time, fail to come in on budget, and fail to live up to what’s promised. These are areas that can be improved. Cloud computing can play a big part in those improvements. The cloud lets you get experimental projects out faster and cheaper, so you can say, “This is what we have already done. Do you want us to do more?” rather than saying, “In twelve months, we might be able to put that into our backlog.”
Part of the solution is Agile development and DevOps, which help the IT team focus on business ideas. The Agile model prescribes continual engagement with the business people who are stakeholders in the application. That is an important development in our industry.
